DoggyRide Novel Dog Bike Trailer Description

Bike trailers for dogs are getting better all the time, and the DoggyRide Novel Dog Bike Trailer is one of the best yet. Able to safely carry a dog up to 110 lbs, the DoggyRide Novel allows big dogs to accompany you on cycling adventures of any distance. With a roomy cabin and extra features like a two section opening for your pooch to pop his or her head out of, it’s a sure bet that your dog will be excited to take a cruise in the DoggyRide.

Standout Features:

  • Lightweight, aluminum alloy construction (10 lbs lighter than previous DoggyRide Novel models!)
  • Center tow arm for great stability when your passenger moves around
  • Plenty of leash hooks so your pal stays where they need to for a safe ride
  • Leash set included
  • 110 lbs weight capacity
  • Fabric and screen mesh protects Fido from rain and UV rays
  • A head rest cushion makes the ride more comfortable for your passenger

Benefits for You: The aluminum alloy construction minimizes towing weight while alloy rims stand up to just about any adventure. A center tow bar connection improved the DoggyRide Novel’s stability when your pet moves inside the trailer.

The Novel has a special pouch and water bottle holder, as well as an optional kickstand to keep the dog trailer upright while parking or detaching it from your bicycle. The quick-release wheels make assembly and storage quick and easy.

The DoggyRide Novel’s plastic bottom makes cleanup easy, and also allows the trailer to perform double duty as a bicycle cargo trailer should you decide to leave your dog at home. The trailer attaches to your bike with a simple hitch arm, and remains stable over any terrain.

Assembly: The DoggyRide Novel arrives 90% assembled. To attach it to your bike, all you need do is remove the pin from the axle – for quick-release axles, you won’t need tools, but you’ll need a wrench for traditional axles.

Benefits for Your Best Friend: Thanks to its dense plastic base and low center of gravity, the DoggyRide Novel dog bike trailer accommodates pets up to 110 lbs. The center tow arm connection keeps pets safe when they move around in the cabin.

A two-section opening allows your dog to get in or out easily and lets them stick their head out of the top section to catch the breeze . . . just like on a car ride. The head rest cushion makes rides super comfortable.

DoggyRide has improved air circulation of the Novel and now incorporates a rain/wind cover, which is helpful on windy days and in cooler climates. The improved air circulation and enhanced weather protection are beneficial for making your precious pooch more comfortable. The Novel dog bike trailer rides on 20″ aluminum alloy rims that keep the ride smooth and prevent your pooch from getting bounced around.

The DoggyRide Novel’s big wheels and low center of gravity provide a very comfortable ride for your dog, while the fully enclosed cabin ensures their safety. The cabin can be used as a crate for training or as an impromptu tent on camping trips! The cabin measures: 31.5″ x 21″ x 25.5″ (80 x 56 x 55 cm)

Compatibility: Transform your DoggyRide into a stroller with the DoggyRide Stroller Kit. There is also a pet mat for cushier rides (available mid April) and a Leash Set for added security.

Comparison: The closest comparison to the DoggyRide Novel would be the Croozer Dog, which has a similar enclosed cabin, but a weight capacity of only 100 lbs vs. the Novel’s 110 lb max. The Croozer Dog has an internal eyelet hole for attaching your dog’s collar to the trailer floor.

I recently wrote a review of the DoggyRide trailer. This is a follow-up to that review. Within two weeks of purchase, my Novel trailer tipped-over while turning a corner. While I was surprised at how easily this happened, I think there were a number of contributing factors. I do not feel that this was the result of design flaw. However, one should be very aware of this possibility and take all recommended and proper precautions outlined by the manufacturer. While my dog was unharmed in this incident, the fabric of the trailer was severely ripped to the point of needing replacement. I contacted the manufacturer and within the same day they responded and shipped (free of any charge) a replacement cover. They were also very receptive to other suggestions for improving user-friendly design(more velcro to hold down the clear plastic weather-shield). Overall, a great product with excellent customer service.

We have been using our Doggyride Novel for over a year now riding three times a week around 20 miles a trip with Taz our 12 yo lab. Being avid riders we switched from Burley to the Doggyride as our dog likes to sit and look around and the design of the Burley is not comfortable for this nor for laying down with the inclined rear. Our dog perfectly fits the Doggyride cabin design. Also, we plan to use it as a stroller while she gets older and the Burley stroller option is not very useful for a dog of the weight of a lab. We like the cabin enclosure and gravity design features of the Doggyride which appear to make it a thoughtful and safe design.

I agree with all of the earlier reviews. Our concern was making sure our 2 seventy pound Labs would accept the trailer. We kept the trailer in the house with the dogs for a week, then walked them behind the trailer for a week. Finally we used treats to encourage them to enter the trailer while it was stationary. Finally we used treats while the trailer was in motion. It worked well. The Novel trailer is extremely well built and worth the price. We pull the trailers behind recumbent bicycles.

I looked at all of the available options online for dog trailers. I finally went with the Doggy Ride Novel because it seemed to be the most well designed. While I haven’t seen any of the others in person, I can attest this is a very high quality trailer. Very well thought out and great attention to detail. It’s a bit tight for my 80# Lab when he lays down, but he does fit without any problems. I would like it to be another 6″ longer. Don’t hesitate to buy this product, it is of very high quality, I really can’t imagine finding a better one. Bicycletrailers.com was also a great company to order from. Free shipping and it arrived the very next day. Overall a great trailer and a great shopping experience.

Outstanding product and customer service – DoggyRide Novel dog bike trailer

Why choosing the DoggyRide Novel dog bike trailer? I owned two others dog trailer from others manufacturer, nothing compare to the Novel for quality of frame and finishes construction. Your getting an intelligent well though tru design. From wheel holder, to the fabric layout, lots of pockets and storage very well ajusted. The inside is great even for larger dog like Golden retriever. I am very happy with it. Also I need to mention their excellent customer support, you phone and someone take the call right of way, not a voice mail with several selection. Do not hesitate, go to doggyride site and get one!

Outstanding product. I have a very large 14 year old border collie with a dodgy heart, so he can’t run with the bike for any distance. He (being a border collie!) was quickly trained to associate the buggy with going out for a run around / visit to a Biergarten and we have had loads of fun with it. You get a great reaction from people who see you whizzing past. I also have the Jogger wheel(bigger wheel than the stroller and much better in all situations) so I can push him around if he gets a bit tired when we arrive wherever. If you have an older, trainable dog….look no further.

We ordered this product in the fall — with full knowledge that it was on backorder. They kept us informed of the progress — and voluntarily gave us the sale price when the product went on sale! We just received the Novel yesterday and just returned from our first ‘test’ ride. It is VERY well built, easy to install and attach, and rides/pulls very smoothly. I would recommend ordering the pad to afford more traction and less ‘paw’ sliding when turning etc.

I bought this dog trailer so my dog could safely go with my and my fiancee on bike rides. It is a great design. She loves to hang her head out the top hole, which is just big enough for that but not big enough for her to jump out. My dog is a Mexican gray wolf/ German Shepherd mix, so about 79#, but it is easy to pull her. I was worried it would be to heavy to pull, but it smoothly pulls her along.I also was concerned about how bumpy it would be for her, but even on uneven surfaces it seems to ride smoothly. This is the first trailer that she has been in. She adjusted quickly to it though, and she loves to be able to go with us biking. Also the trailer has a lot of safety reflectors on it and a bright yellow detachable flag. Not to mention a little extra storage in the back. It is definitely a great find! She looks like a princess in a chariot and it is a lot safer that having her run off leash besides us.
